Oct 7 & 8
Used the Sydney Ferry system to travel to the Olympic Site where Gerry & Rick registered for the games and Jane & I got our “accompanying person” passes. These get us in to all the game venues and on to the Sydney transit system (trains, busses & ferries) for free. Enjoyed our ferry ride up to the site but as we had dressed for warm weather at the start of the sun-shiny day, when the clouds gathered & the rain started we shivered all the way home!
Thursday was another day of golf for Gerry & Rick and a day of exploring/shopping for Jane & I. Staying in Darling Harbor has been excellent as it is such a central location. Easy to get to the trains & the ferries. We explored the QVB shopping area (Queen Victoria Building) and and got lost in the underground shops & connecting ways. Found ‘The Tea Room’ where we could enjoy high tea for $45 (will wait for the guys to take us there!!). Also found a few Starbucks – although don’t really need them as every corner store & small cafe has an espresso machine. LOVE IT!!
