At 9:30 a.m. on October 5 (lost a day) we arrived in Sydney. Not off the plane for about 45 minutes as had to undergo their quarantine measures of numerous bottles of aerosol sprayed into the overhead luggage compartments and then a wait of 5 minutes for it to all take effect. That was after 4 feature movies, a tiny bit of napping and THREE airline meals (not gourmet, but actual meals!). Shuttle bus to to our hotel (Oaks Goldbrough Apartments) & then off to explore.
Monday was a holiday (the Queen’s birthday) and there was a ‘Fiesta’ in Darling Harbour. Lots of people, entertainment, food & shopping kiosks and all with a Latin American flavour. Looked at a few of the ships in the Maritime Museum, stopped for lunch at Jordon’s Bar (we didn’t let them know they spelled their name wrong!), listened to some Cuban music and then wandered back to the hotel to check in.
Met up with Rick & Jane Evasiuk and after getting settled went back to explore more. Stopped for an early supper at an Italian restaurant (pizza started at $20 for regular size up to $60 for a 1 meter size), listened to more Latin American music then home & to bed before 9. (Unbelievable I know!!)
