Overlander Train to Wellington

November 20

From Auckland to Wellington it’s  a long 8 hour drive, but we took the train instead.   It started with a diesel engine, then changed to electric.

Went through a spiral incline (got up quite high), stopped at the National Park (3 or 4 snow-capped mountains),

crossed over several viaducts (one was 79m high)

but most of the scenery was sheep, gorse, sheep, cattle and sheep.

It was a 12 hour train trip but very relaxing.  No driving or navigating or trusting the GPS and close to Wellington we saw the Tasman Sea again.
